Day 46

Nicktoons Week continues with Tommy, Chuckie, Phil and Lil from Rugrats. This is day 46 of the #365daysofdrawing. This was a a really fun cartoon when I was a kid. I think it was the first Nicktoon, or at least among the first. And like SpongeBob this cartoon seemed to last forever, going for something like a decade and having a pretty bad spinoff where they were teenagers. Not to mention a couple movies. It was a phenomenon.

I was a fan. And I used to draw them as a kid. In fact the first drawing I ever sold was Tommy Pickles for 25 cents at my roadside stand. I remember people saying the character designs were ugly, and I guess I can see that. But I still like them.

I’ve watch some of these with my kids, and they hold up pretty well. I actually remembered a bunch of them, which surprised me.

So here’s the gang. I didn’t want to draw Angelica. Screw that bitch! Always picking on the babies. Really upset me as a kid when I’d watch. So she doesn’t get to be in it.
