Day 263
Day 263 of the #365drawingchallenge is a gift for my lovely wife on her birthday, a portrait of her Great Grandma Mary. My wife has wanted me to draw this for a long time, she really misses her great grandma as they were very close. The biggest issue is I haven’t been able to get a good photo to work from. The photo I used was not a very good quality, and it was basically the only one I had to reference, so this was hard. Of course I tried to do a really good job, and spent some extra time on this. That said, I think I did a pretty good job and it looks like her. She passed while my wife and I were dating and I was in college. She was a funny lady who was the kind of old where you don’t worry about being rude anymore. I haven’t gotten my wife’s reaction to the drawing yet, so hopefully she’ll be happy with it. It’s nice that I’m able to use my talents to make people I care about feel good. It’s also nice since I’m pretty broke, and drawing something doesn’t cost anything.
